Project Playground supports children and youth in vulnerable communities in South Africa by offering safe, structured spaces to grow, learn, and play. Through free after-school programs, sports, creative activities, academic support, and psychosocial services, they provide meaningful opportunities for young people who might otherwise face isolation or unsafe environments. In South Africa, their centers offer daily meals, counselling, and educational support for children living in challenging conditions. By strengthening confidence, well-being, and life skills, Project Playground helps children build brighter, more empowered futures.

Project Playground was founded by HRH Princess Sofia together with Frida Vesterberg in 2010. Driven by a commitment to support vulnerable children in South Africa, they created safe spaces offering meals, guidance, and meaningful activities. Their vision was to give every child the chance to grow, thrive, and shape a brighter future.

In addition to providing safe spaces and daily nutritious meals, Project Playground helps children grow by teaching them how to plant and care for their own crops. Through hands-on gardening, they learn responsibility, nutrition, and sustainability.
